Wychavon Festival of Brass 29th October

Wychavon Festival of Brass October 29th at TDMS (The De Montfort School, Evesham) and FREE pre-contest concert on October 28th at TDMS

You may not be aware that the Wychavon Festival of Brass (WFB) hosts the largest one-day musical events in Worcestershire, attracting over sixty brass bands to its annual Entertainment Contest.  This makes it one of the UK’s premier contests and this year over 1900 bandsmen and women from across the nation (and an anticipated audience of 400 plus) will gather in Evesham to make music in healthy competition.

Arranged in sections, much like football divisions, bands of all capability play a twenty-minute entertainment programme to be judged by some world class adjudicators and exponents in the brass field. Prizes are awarded for the best solo contribution and the most entertaining band in each section, leading to some phenomenal playing, exciting choreography and high-level entertainment across the twelve-hour day. Bands perform in the four halls that TDMS in Evesham offers, each hall being dressed especially for the occasion.

If your only experience of seeing and hearing a brass band is when one plays in the local bandstand, then you are missing out!  At its inception in 1989, WFB set out to spread the word about Worcestershire to groups of people who would otherwise be unlikely visitors to our region. We are still doing that today. Our contest this year is the biggest we have ever held, so big that we’ve had to run waiting lists for competition spots! So, please come and experience the spectacle of happy and talented people joyfully making music together!

All are invited to attend the competition on Saturday 29th (doors open at 9.00am at TDMS (De Montfort School, Evesham).

There will be a free pre-contest concert held on Oct 28th at 7.30pm featuring Langley and Avonbank bands at TDMS, for the benefit of our local community.

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND THIS FREE CONCERT
